Terms & Conditions
Urban Competitions

These Terms and Conditions apply to all competitions operated by Urban Competitions through the website:

https://urbancompetitions.com

By entering a competition you agree to be legally bound by these terms.

1. Promoter

The promoter of all competitions is:

Urban Competitions

Our correspondence address is:

[email protected]

All competitions are operated via the website:

https://urbancompetitions.com

Urban Competitions reserves the right to amend these terms at any time. Any updates will be published on this page, with the effective date noted.

---

2. Eligibility

Competitions are open to individuals who:

- are 18 years of age or older
- reside in the United Kingdom (or such other countries as stated on the relevant competition page)
- provide accurate personal details when entering

The following persons are not eligible to enter:

- employees of Urban Competitions
- family members of employees
- anyone directly connected with the operation of the competitions

Urban Competitions reserves the right to request proof of identity and age before awarding any prize, and may withhold a prize until satisfactory proof is provided.

---

3. Competition Format

Urban Competitions runs prize competitions structured as free prize draws.

Entry is available by two equal routes: a paid online entry route, and a free postal entry route (see Section 4). Neither route affects an entrant's chance of winning — every valid entry, whether paid or free, is given an equal and identical chance of being selected as the winner.

This structure is intended to ensure competitions fall within the free prize draw exemption under Section 339 of the Gambling Act 2005, and do not require a licence from the Gambling Commission, because no payment is required to participate.

Each competition page will display:

- prize description and, where applicable, cash alternative value
- entry price (paid route)
- total number of tickets available
- maximum entries permitted per person
- closing date and time
- draw date and time
- a clear and equally prominent link to the free postal entry route

Urban Competitions may run multiple competitions simultaneously.

4. Entry Methods

Paid Entry

Participants may purchase entries through the website. Entry prices and ticket bundles are displayed on the competition page. All payments are processed securely via the website checkout.

Free Postal Entry

A free entry route is available for every competition, on equal terms to the paid entry route. The free route carries exactly the same odds of winning as a paid entry, and the maximum number of free entries permitted per person matches the maximum number of paid entries permitted per person, as stated on the relevant competition page.

To enter by post, send the following details, clearly written, on an unenclosed postcard or letter:

- full name
- date of birth
- address
- email address
- contact phone number
- the name of the specific competition you wish to enter
- the number of entries requested (up to the stated maximum)

Post entries to:

Urban Competitions
40 Earlsmeadow, Shiremoor, NE27 0GB, Newcastle Upon Tyne

Entries must be received before the competition closing date stated on the relevant competition page.

Each postal entry must be sent in a separate, individually stamped envelope. Bulk entries submitted in a single envelope will be counted as one entry only.

An account on the website must be created in order for a postal entry to be processed. Details provided on the postcard must match the details held on the entrant's account.

Incomplete, illegible, or unmatched entries will be disqualified.

Urban Competitions will not acknowledge receipt of postal entries.

If the maximum number of entries for a competition (paid and free combined) is reached before a postal entry is received, that postal entry will not be included in the draw.

---

5. Maximum Entries

Urban Competitions will set a maximum number of entries per person for each competition, displayed on the competition page. This maximum applies equally across paid and free postal entries combined. Entries above this limit will be disqualified.

---

6. Competition Closing Date

Each competition has a specified closing date and time, shown on the competition page.

A competition may close earlier than the stated date if all available tickets are sold. In this event, the draw date may also be brought forward; any change will be reflected on the competition page and, where practicable, communicated via Urban Competitions' social media channels.

Urban Competitions reserves the right to extend a competition's closing date in exceptional circumstances.

---

7. Winner Selection

Once a competition closes, a winner is selected from all valid entries — paid and free postal entries combined — using a random number generator or live random draw process, as stated on the relevant competition page. No skill, judgement, or knowledge is required to win; selection is by chance alone, from the full pool of valid entries.

---

8. Instant Win Competitions

Some competitions operate on an instant win basis, in addition to or instead of a scheduled live draw.

For instant win competitions:

- a number of prizes are randomly allocated across the total available tickets at the outset of the competition
- entrants are informed immediately, or as close to immediately as reasonably possible, whether their entry has won an instant prize
- free postal entries are allocated into the same instant win prize pool as paid entries, on equal terms, and entrants will be notified of any instant win result by email
- where a competition includes a separate guaranteed end prize, every valid entry (instant win or not, paid or free) is automatically included in the end prize draw, conducted as described in Section 7

---

9. Prize Claims and Winner Notification

Winners will be contacted using the contact details provided at the time of entry, via email and/or the contact methods stated on the competition page (which may include Messenger, Instagram, or a dedicated contact number).

Winners must respond to claim their prize within 7 days of being notified. If a winner cannot be reached, or does not respond within this period, Urban Competitions reserves the right to declare the prize forfeited and select an alternative winner from the remaining valid entries, or to retain the prize, at its discretion.

Where a prize is awarded as site credit, it will be added to the winner's account automatically and is available for immediate use. Where a winner requests a cash withdrawal of credit won, Urban Competitions may require proof of identity (such as a passport or driving licence) before processing the transfer, in order to verify the recipient.

---

10. Prize Delivery

Prizes will be delivered, transferred, or made available to the winner within a reasonable time after the draw or instant win notification.

Where a physical prize becomes unavailable, Urban Competitions may offer a cash alternative of equivalent value, at its discretion.

All prizes are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for a different prize, except where a stated cash alternative is offered on the competition page.

---

11. Refund Policy

Entries are non-refundable once purchased, except as set out below.

If a competition is cancelled by Urban Competitions for any reason, all paid entrants for that competition will receive a full refund of their entry cost.

Refunds outside of competition cancellation may be issued in exceptional circumstances at the discretion of Urban Competitions, considered on a case-by-case basis.

---

12. Liability

Urban Competitions is not responsible for:

- lost, delayed, or misdirected postal entries
- technical errors, website outages, or payment processing failures outside its reasonable control
- incorrect or out-of-date contact details supplied by entrants

Urban Competitions' liability to any entrant is limited to the value of the prize in question, save for liability that cannot be excluded under English law (including death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud).

---

13. Data Protection

By entering a competition, participants consent to their data being processed for:

- competition administration, including verifying postal entries against account details
- winner selection and announcement
- marketing communications, where the entrant has separately opted in

Personal data will be processed in accordance with the Urban Competitions Privacy Policy, available here.

---

14. Publicity

Winners may be asked to take part in reasonable publicity in connection with their win. This may include:

- first name and town/area (not full address)
- winner photographs or video, with consent
- social media posts announcing the win

A winner's participation in publicity beyond their name and prize amount is voluntary and not a condition of receiving the prize.

---

15. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from a competition will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
